Georgian Reading Challenge 2020

The Georgian Reading Challenge is hosted at Becky’s Book Reviews. It’s a pretty low-key reading challenge, with a goal of four books, fiction or non-fiction, related to the Georgian era (I’m using the 1714-1830 period – sorry, William IV). The books from my Classics Club list that qualify are:

  • Pamela by Samuel Richardson (1740)
  • Joseph Andrews and Shamela by Henry Fielding (1741)
  • The Life of Samuel Johnson by James Boswell (1791)
  • A Vindication of the Rights of Woman by Mary Wollstonecraft (1792)
  • Tales from Shakespeare by Charles & Mary Lamb (1807)
  • The Swiss Family Robinson by Johann D. Wyss (1812)
  • Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (1813)
  • Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scott (1819)
  • Confessions of an English Opium Eater by Thomas De Quincey (1822)
