Back to the Classics is hosted at Books and Chocolate. Filling out the categories should give me a good start on my Classics Club list. The titles I’m thinking about now are, of course, subject to change.

  • 19th Century Classic (1800-1899): Little Lord Fauntleroy by Frances Hodgson Burnett (finished March 8)
  • 20th Century Classic (1900-1969): To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf
  • Classic by a Woman Author: A Vindication of the Rights of Woman by Mary Wollstonecraft
  • Classic in Translation: Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, translated by Marie Borroff
  • Classic Comic Novel: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
  • Classic Tragic Novel: The Well of Loneliness by Radclyffe Hall
  • Very Long Classic (500 pages or longer, not including introductions or end notes): Villette by Charlotte Bronte
  • Classic Novella (Shorter than 250 pages): The Time Machine by H.G. Wells
  • Classic From the Americas (includes the Caribbean): Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl by Harriet Jacobs
  • Classic From Africa, Asia, or Oceania (includes Australia): The Pillow Book by Sei Shonagon
  • Classic From a Place You’ve Lived: Mary Barton by Elizabeth Gaskell
  • Classic Play: The Oresteia: Agamemnon, Eumenides, & Libation Bearers by Aeschylus, translated by Sarah Ruden
